Backyard Rewilding Comes to Hancock County: Kickoff Event Scheduled
Learn how to transform you yard into a native habitat at this upcoming event!
Are you a Hancock County resident looking to create healthy habitats for Maine's native species? The Hancock County Soil & Water Conservation District (HCSWCD) is excited to officially kick off its new Backyard Rewilding Program with an educational event on August 14, 2024 from 6:00 to 7:30pm at the Hancock County Extension Office.
At this free event, you'll have the opportunity to learn how to earn a Conservation Landscape Certificate (CLC) through Backyard Rewilding. The event will feature a welcome and introduction by HCSWCD staff, a presentation by Program Director Tabatha White, and a video presentation by renowned ecologist Doug Tallamy. You'll also be able to get your soil tested for pH and participate in a Q&A session.
Our event and the Backyard Rewilding & CLC program is made possible through the generosity of the Davis Conservation Foundation.
Light refreshments will be provided, and we hope to see you there! The event will take place from 6:00-7:30 pm at the Hancock County Extension Office at 63 Boggy Brook Road in Ellsworth.
Please RSVP by calling 207-667-8663 or RSVP online. We're looking forward to helping you transform your backyard into a thriving native habitat!
