Our Fish Sale for Private Pond Stocking 2021 Has Ended, See you in 2022!
Maine Association of Conservation Districts is working with Micmac Farms as the new supplier for private pond stocking. Unfortunately, our past suppler Mountain Springs Trout Farm is no longer in operation. Please be patient as we work with our new partner to establish a system for delivery.
If you would like to place a Spring 2021 fish order click on the images of the trout and oxygen bags to place your order online. You can also download and mail or email the order form below. Due to the size of the fish it is recommended you order the oxygen bags based on no more than 20 fish per bag.
Please check and update your IFW Stocking Permit to be sure your pond is approved for brook trout*. A valid permit is required at the time of pick-up.
Here is what we know for about the Conservation District 2021 fish sale, Micmac Farms has Brook Trout ranging approximately 6-10″ (no rainbow or brown trout*)
This year’s fish are larger and have been fed longer.
The pick up date is May 10, 2021 at the HCWCD USDA office , 474 Bucksport Road, Ellsworth. We will provide a time as May 10th gets closer.
* The number of fish a pond can support is limited by water temperature, food supply, depth and surface area. Surface area is a good starting point to estimate capacity starting at: 50 (4″-6″), 40 (6-8″), 30 (8-10″) fish per 1/4 acre surface area. Food supply and water quality such as that is colder temperature and increase carrying capacity. If you are unsure about brook trout’s ability to survive in your pond, we encourage you start small or keep a record of pond water temperature at it deepest location or monitor for dissolved oxygen during the July, August and September.
